**DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND, a second screening at an alternate location is planned for 2026. STAY TUNED for details.**
Kingston-based writer and filmmaker Lynn Woods will come to CURIOUS on Sunday, November 16th at 7pm to show her 2016 documentary Lost Rondout: A Story of Urban Removal, followed by an informal discussion and Q&A.
Co-directed and produced by Stephen Blauweiss & Lynn Woods, Lost Rondout tells the story of Downtown Kingston’s ill-conceived urban renewal project in the late 1960s, through hundreds of photographs and more than 40 interviews. Run time is 69 minutes.
As a writer, artist and filmmaker, Lynn Woods has delved deeply into the history, landscape, working-class culture and thriving art scene of her adopted Hudson River city. It is the latest phase of a decades-long career as a freelance journalist that began in 1993, when she left New York City for Woodstock and two years later, moved to Kingston. Her fascination with the urban remnants along the Kingston waterfront led to the development of the film, which received an Excellence in Preservation Award from Friends of Historic Kingston and a Special Citation 2017 Ulster County Executive’s Arts Awards.
